The Story Behind the Brand
Sarvangi Arts was founded by Sandesh Shankar Gaonkar, an artist whose journey began in the vibrant Ganesh festival culture of Maharashtra.
Growing up surrounded by Ganpati Mandals, idol makers, and decoration artists, Sandesh developed a deep passion for painting, design, and traditional art from a young age. With more than 12 years of experience as a commercial artist and design professional, he combined his creative expertise with his love for Maharashtrian traditions to create something truly meaningful.
In 2018, following Maharashtra's ban on single-use plastic and thermocol decorations, Sandesh saw an opportunity to create a sustainable alternative that would preserve festive traditions without harming the environment.
Inspired by the rich colours and elegance of traditional Maharashtrian sarees, he designed India's first reusable DIY Ganpati Makhar crafted from authentic Irakkal and Paithani fabrics. His innovative Paithani Pankha concept later received a Design Patent, making Sarvangi Arts a pioneer in eco-friendly Ganesh festival décor.
Today, his creations are appreciated by customers not only across India but also in countries including the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East.
